Spiked Rosemary Lemonade

July 27, 2015

Hey y’all! Wow so I feel like I dropped the ball a bit last week. You know when nothing seems to be going right? Well, I had that kind of week. No matter what I was testing for the blog, nothing seemed to be working out. I burned a cake, I made a semi decent but not that great galette, my pasta idea fell flat. Even more, every restaurant I went to last week seemed to also crack under pressure. I had so many big dreams for multiple dinner spots I visited, but nothing really lived up to the expectations that I was given. It was disappointing.

So by Friday, I needed a stiff drink! Also, if no one has mentioned this… or maybe you’ve been living under a rock- The Bachelorette Season Finale is tonight. Guys, it’s time to play drinking games everytime Shawn and Nick have an awkward stare down. I’m in it to win it, but of course stay classy. It’s a Monday after all.

So if you and your posse have grown tired of the standard rose wine buzz while watching The Bachelorette’s hard decision making. This may just be the drink for all of y’all.

Side note: Where do they find all of these men? Are six packs that prevalent in the world? Do they have to get a six pack before they come on the show?giphy I think a six pack of beer is an impressive enough gift to bring and of course your heart!

I just cringed while thinking that…

Ok, focusing, so really if you didn’t know how easy it is to make lemonade, let me be your lemonade ambassador! It’s so easy! All you need is about 8 lemons (depending on your crowd/number of drinks). Basically you want about one to two lemons a drinks. You’ll need some kind of lemon squeezer. Might I recommend something amazing? A handy lemon squeezer like this. A good amount of sugar. A few sprigs of rosemary. AND your favorite gin or vodka. Personally, I’m a Hendrick’s-kinda-girl. Lastly, a bit of club soda.

The beauty about this recipe, is that if you have a friend who isn’t drinking. You can easily make her the same drink… just no alcohol! Just substitute club soda for gin. Then she’s like the bubbly, fancy one in the group. All your friends will be jealous.

Here’s the nitty-gritty:

serves 8

7 – 9 lemons, squeezed, obviously the more lemons you put in the more lemony the lemonade. Leave one lemon for garnish

1 cup sugar

3/4 cup water

2 sprigs rosemary, 2-3 sprigs for garnish

Gin (personally I’d go with Hendrick’s), or Vodka

Club Soda

1. Squeeze 7-8 lemons. Over high heat combine lemon juice, sugar, water, and rosemary. Heat until boiling.

2. Once your liquid reaches a boil immediately reduce heat. Let simmer for 3 minutes.

3. Remove rosemary sprigs, refrigerate lemon mixture for at least 2 hours.

4. Combine 5 tbsp lemon mix, 2 shots of gin (6 second pour), and a splash of club soda. Alternately, if you are making a non-alcoholic version, just skip the alcohol and make the drink 2 parts lemon mix, 3 parts club soda.

5. Garnish with rosemary sprig and a lemon slice.

And just like that, you’ve got a new drink to slosh around with your friends… perhaps while watching your favorite guilty pleasure.
