Blood Orange Margarita

May 4, 2015

I woke up this morning, and it finally felt like summer was actually going to show up. It’s been so crazy the way the weather has shifted back and forth. But it finally seems like winter may have given up, and the warm weather is here to stay. I took my spring/summer clothes down and packed my winter clothes away. Got my bathing suits out and realized it’s almost summer – pool season. I’m ecstatic! I need to get myself together… but first we Cinco de Mayo y’all!

Yes, I will admit. I love a margarita. Growing up, my daddy made margaritas often. And let me tell you that man doesn’t mess around. We don’t pour lightly where I’m from. And yes, maybe you’re into the classic margarita. Ok – I am too, but I also love a good flavored margarita. Be it frozen or on the rocks. Give me salt on the rim or sugar. Y’all it doesn’t matter- as long as you put liquor in there!

Serves 2

cup of salt or sugar

lime wedge

1/2 cup blood orange juice

2 tbsp lime juice

1 shot of triple sec

2 1/2 shots of silver tequila

a lime for garnish to add that pretty color factor

Pour cup of sugar or salt on counter. Cut a lime wedge and graze lime around the rim of each glass. Dip each rim of the glasses into sugar or salt to line your rim.

Fill glass with ice, mix ingredients, split between two glasses and now you’ve got your margarita fix. Have fun y’all!
